The Microsoft Exchange Connector protocol, also known as the “Corporate Mail” protocol on Android smartphones, is similar to IMAP in that the messages are stored on the mailserver. However it also includes the ability to synchronize calendaring, public folders, and a global address book, because Microsoft included those features in Microsoft Outlook that is included in Microsoft Office.
